Facility Information

  • constructed between 1978 and 1982
  • building is 11,200 sq. ft.
  • 54,870 sq. ft.  of cylinder storage area
  • contained seven autoclaves for heating both 10-ton and 14-ton uranium cylinders. Four autoclaves were equipped only for feed operations. The other three were equipped to feed uranium, but also capable of withdrawing samples of cylinder contents for verification
  • accounting scale which was used for taking the weights of cylinders for nuclear accountability purposes
  • three 20-ton bridge cranes used for moving cylinders
  • three cold traps which were used for the removal of residual uranium compounds before venting
